• Signs of a urinary tract infection
• Incontinence
• Pregnancy or breastfeeding
• Other completed botulinum toxin treatments
• Nerve disorders, particularly those that affect the eye area or corneas
• Muscle disorders

Pre-Care Instructions:

• Avoid Blood Thinners: Stop taking blood-thinning medications, herbal supplements (such as ginkgo biloba, garlic, and fish oil), and anti-inflammatory drugs at least one week before the procedure. This reduces the risk of bruising at the injection sites.
• Alcohol and Smoking: Avoid alcohol and smoking for a few days before the procedure, as these can increase the risk of bruising.
• Notify Your Provider: Inform your healthcare provider about any medications, allergies, or recent illnesses you may have. This helps them tailor the procedure to your specific needs and health conditions.
• Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to the procedure. Hydrated skin can be more responsive to Botox injections.
• Avoid Sun Exposure: Minimize sun exposure and use sunscreen to protect your skin. Sunburned or irritated skin may increase the risk of complications.

Post-Care Instructions:

• Avoid Touching the Treated Area: Refrain from touching, rubbing, or applying pressure to the treated area for several hours post-procedure. This helps prevent the spread of the toxin to unintended areas.
• Facial Exercises: Periodically perform facial movements in the areas of injections in order to work the Botox/Dysport into the muscle – e.g., smile, squint, etc.
• Makeup: Make-up may be applied gently before leaving the office. Remember to wipe up and away from your eyes or brows.
• Stay Upright: Remain in an upright position for at least 4 hours after the procedure. Avoid lying down or bending over, as this can prevent the spread of the toxin.
• No Strenuous Exercise: Avoid strenuous exercise and activities for at least 24 hours after the injections. This minimizes the risk of spreading the toxin to unintended muscles.
• Avoid Alcohol: Refrain from consuming alcohol for at least 24 hours after the procedure, as it can increase the risk of bruising.
• Follow-Up Appointments: Attend any scheduled follow-up appointments to assess the results and discuss any concerns or questions you may have.
• Ice Pack: If there is swelling or discomfort, you may use a cold compress or ice pack (wrapped in a cloth)on the treated area. Do not apply ice directly to the skin.
